Style Is...

Since I can remember, I've always had a thing about standing out and being my own individual. When it comes to fashion I can care less about brands and prices, to me it's all about how you wear what you wear.

Don't be surprised if you see me at a "high profile" event with the "cheapest" of clothing on (which is rare), but look the flyest there! Anyone can put on Prada, LV, Gucci, Etc... But not everyone can put it together in a way that it becomes... "Theirs", case in point.. "I was on my way to a Sean John event earlier this year, an individual had on the most expensive brands (he look like a walking billboard for every clothing line out), but the thing that really stood out was the fact that none of it matched, It was as if he just grabbed the newest stuff he had in his closet and threw it on, thinking he was fly because his Gucci belt was down to his hips and jeans hugged his knees so tightly, that it looked as if he was a ballerina "... That is NOT fashion, nor style, that's a fashion fail!

Being a "Label Whore" is for who? You? the people looking at you? your inner desire to be viewed as someone who has money or is it because you're insecure and don't know who you are, so you need to be the next man/woman?

When I step out my building I look around and see so many brands and labels, ironically everyone with those labels/brands on are staring at me, as if I'm some sort of "Celebrity", why? Because I take my time and put my wardrobe together , I also express who I AM without any apologies, which is key!

Be Unique, Be You, Be Some One Who Others Look To For Advice, Be Some One Who Stands Out In A Room Full Of "Wanna Be's"...

Develop your OWN style, Fashion is always changing, but style is forever!

Style's not what you wear, nor the price of the clothing on your back

Style Is... "How you carry yourself & the manner you go about wearing that which you wear".

Cali, when you tweet post, makes sure to use the permalink of the post instead of sending people directly to the homepage of your blog. Hot site and good use of viral widgets on the sidebar.

I love this! I really connected with this post. Fashion is something that I also am into but I have never been what I like to call a label chaser. Appearance is important especially when being a muslimah and representing Islam every time I step out of the door. Personally, I could never let someone elses "style" change me from what I do best which is being me!!!!
Keep the posts coming Is, I am enjoying them!

@ Malik...
What does it do when I send them directly to the home page? does a permalink change something? or is it for protection?

thank you Malik, still have some/a lot of work to do on it, learning, but I like it!

@Ms. Cooper...
