Casio Frogman “Takashi Murakami” G-Shock Watch

Over the summer Casio announced a limited edition version of their G-Shock Frogman watch in honor of the 40th Anniversary of Tokyo FM. Casio is known to make limited edition watches all the time, many of them are highly sought after collectibles. Casio chose famous Japanese pop artist Takashi Murakami to design the watch. Built on the Casio GWF-100TM watch, Murakami chose a pinkish-red for the case and strap material. William Yan x Ronnie Fieg | The Sebago Nexus Project

The final chapter of The Sebago Nexus Project releases tomorrow. As you should all know by now, Ronnie Fieg brought the five individual bloggers to the Dominican Republic to work on a special collection with Sebago. William Yan was one of the five, a straight up street style photographer who is able to capture fashion at its best. He pushes the envelope to capture photos which represent a character’s fashion sense. Sounds easy right? It’s not, you need an eye and talent that very few possess.

The boots are made with very premium leathers. The grey DT boot features a red sole, grey leather laces and amazingly soft grey nubuck sock liners which make it comfortable to wear with or without socks. The Lighthouse boot features very unique Blue Coral and Cadmium Green colored leathers, a navy lace, an off-white dockside sole and a navy leather sock liner.

3 Things

To me, there are three things we all should do every day NO MATTER WHAT... We should do this EVERY day of our lives.

Number one is to LAUGH : You should laugh every day.

Number two is to THINK : You should spend some time in deep thought.

And number three is, you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy, it doesn't matter just CRY.

Think about it... If you LAUGH, you THINK, and you CRY, that's a full day. That's one hell of a day. You do that seven days a week, you're going to have something very special.

Skee.TV presents "UP CLOSE" with K'NAAN

Skee.TV presents a new series, "Up Close," an insightful docu-series that takes an in-depth look at artists and entertainers. "Up Close" launches with a three part series on Somalian born musician, K'NAAN, on the east coast leg of his tour.

Directed by Matt Alonzo and Mike Busalacchi of Skee.TV.

Skee.TV decided to tag along with him and give a beautiful black and white look into what makes this man an artist. The documentary features live performance footage at Webster Hall in NYC and in-depth interviews into the heart and head of K'naan.

Negro Motorist Green Book

This is an Interesting piece of Black History in America.

The Negro Motorist Green Book is the subject of today's "Little-Known Black History Fact."

The Negro Motorist Handbook was a
publication released in 1936 that served as a guide for African-American travelers. Because of the racist conditions that existed from segregation, blacks needed a reference manual to guide them to integrated or black-friendly establishments. That's when they turned to "The Negro Motorist Green Book: An International Travel Guide by activist Victor Green and presented by the Esso Standard Oil Company. Originally provided to serve Metropolitan New York, the book received such an alarming response, it was spread throughout the country within one year. The catch phrase was Now we can travel without embarrassment.
The Green Book often provided information on local tourist homes, which were private residences owned by blacks and open to travelers. It was especially helpful to blacks that traveled through sunset towns or towns that publicly stated that blacks had to leave the town by sundown
or it would be cause for arrest. Also listed were hotels, barbershops, beauty salons, restaurants, garages, liquor stores, ball parks and taverns. It also provided a listing of the white-owned, black-friendly locations for accommodations and food.

The publication was free, with a 10-cent cost of shipping. As interest grew, the Green Book solicited salespersons nationwide to build its ad sales.

Inside the pages of the Green Book were action photos of the various locations, along with historical and background information for the readers' review. Within the pages of the introduction, the guide states, There will be a day sometime in the near future when this guide will not have to be published. That is when we as a race will have equal opportunities and privileges in the United States ."
The Green Book printed its last copy in 1964 after the passing of the Civil Rights Act.

Sweden’s public service television, SVT, is releasing this one-hour documentary chronicling the history of WikiLeaks. From summer 2010 until now, Swedish Television has been following the secretive media network WikiLeaks and its enigmatic Editor-in-Chief Julian Assange.

Nike / House of Hoops - Miami

Nike launched the Miami base for House of Hoops and commissioned Alberto Russo to pimp out the walls with stylish illustrations of hoop heroes.  The illustrations are dramatically realistic. They retain a digital edge and all the ballers are snapped mid-motion. These portraits are screaming with action. Humble materials were used to create these portraits, such as pencils, markers, and Photoshop.  The creme de la creme of the NBA are on display, including, Dwayne Wade, Kevin Durant, Lebron James, and Kobe Bryant.

10th Muharram -A day of Fasting. [Ashura]

Muharram [Arabic: المحرّم] is the first month of the Islamic calendar. It is one of the four sacred months of the year. Since the Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar, Muharram moves from year to year when compared with the Gregorian calendar.

The word "Muharram" means "Forbidden" and is derived from the word harām, meaning "sinful". It is held to be the most sacred of all the months, excluding Ramadan. Some Muslims fast during these days. The tenth day of Muharram is the Day of Ashura, which to Shia Muslims is part of the Mourning of Muharram.

Muslims fast during this day, because it is recorded in the hadith that Musa [Moses] and his people obtained a victory over the Egyptian Pharaoh on the 10th day of Muharram; accordingly Muhammad asked Muslims to fast on this day that is Ashura and on a day before that is 9th or The Day after which is the 11th.

Fasting differs among the Muslim groupings; mainstream Shia Muslims stop eating and drinking during sunlight hours and do not eat until late afternoon. Sunni Muslims also fast during Muharram for the first ten days of Muharram, or just the tenth day, or on both the ninth and tenth days; the exact term depends on the individual. Shia Muslims do so to replicate the sufferings of Hussein ibn Ali on the Day of Ashura.

10 Facts about the Muslim Consumer

1.  The total global Muslim population is 1.6 billion, around 25% of the world’s population today.  It’s expected to be nearly 50% of world population by 2050 if it continues to outpace global population growth by 1.5x-2x.  The Muslim household on average is around 5 people per family compared to the United States at 2.6 people.

2.  The typical Muslim demographic is younger.  For example, in the Middle East, North Africa and the South Asian region, the focal geography of SM Advisory Group, almost 50% of the population is under the age of 25. Furthermore with a rising middle class and adoption of modern and urban trends the consumption potential is very attractive for decades to come.

3.  The global shariah-compliant market is more than $2 trillion annually. This includes all products and services that a Muslim community would be a natural consumer of and includes halal food as well as Islamic banking.

4.  The halal food market is approximately $632 billion or 16% of the global food industry.  This already being a significant portion but also take into account the exponential growth rate of Muslims, therefore one can predict that the halal food industry will also grow to meet the needs of this booming population.

5.  The Islamic finance market is estimated at $1 trillion. Islamic funds are only around $55 billion worldwide compared to conventional market at $22 trillion therefore as Islamic finance matures the upside to raising new capital and expanding the Islamic banking universe is significant.

6.  US Muslims alone have a buying power of around $200 billion or $25,000 per capita. If the average Muslim population reaches even one fourth of the US Muslim consumer, spending level the global Muslim consumer spending would be around $10 trillion annually.

7.  According to a recent gallup study, Muslim Americans have the least amount of income disparity between the genders.  The Muslim American community also happens to be the most ethnically diverse.
8. Muslims account for 16% of the $100 billion Kosher market because of limited halal products, therefore just as a starting point there appears to be an established $16 billion food market in the US ripe for halal food manufacturers.

9.  Ad spending in the Arab world is $6 per capita compared to North America at $369, Europe $117, Asia $23 and Africa $7, hence for marketers and advertising firms there is an untapped market completely.

10. Nestle is one of the largest halal food manufacturers with halal sales of more than $5 billion.  75 out of 481 Nestle factories produce halal food worldwide. Halal food is approximately 5% of Nestle’s sales.  As companies look to take advantage of growth in the Muslim consumer market it is quite likely that they focus on bespoke marketing on everything from pharmaceuticals to insurance and baby formula.
