Before I Die is a new project by public installation artist and designer Candy Chang located in New Orleans.  Once a decrepit and abandoned home in her neighborhood, the Before I Die mural gives residents and visitors the chance to participate in a bucket list of sorts.  The giant chalkboard is Chang’s way of getting people to become more introspective and explore what’s important to mankind.
The Before I Die project encourages passersby to write in chalk, what they hope to do before death.  Chang took 1 month and 7 hours to prime, paint, and stencil the 900 Marigny Street residence and says the project has affected her heart and that she plans on doing similar installations soon.  If you’re in the area, stop by and write in your aspirations and also visit Candy Chang online for more of her public works of art – HERE.
