Record Store Day 2011

Record Store Day 2011 500x327 Record Store Day 2011 Announced
There are over 700 independently owned record stores in the United States, and with the advent of the MP3, iTunes, and other digital music sources, many record stores have closed shop or are struggling to stay afloat.  In 2007 based on an idea by R&B singer Chris Brown, six music store fans came together to create Record Store Day.  Record Store Day is one day out of the year when independently owned record stores link up with hundreds of American artists to celebrate music by providing exclusive vinyl and CD releases in support of the modern record shop.

Record Store Day is April 16th this year and to celebrate, the festivities will include, live shows, cooking out, body painting, meet and greet sessions with artists, parades, live DJs and more.  The first Record Store Day was kicked off by Metallica April 19, 2008 and now it is held the third Saturday every April.  If you are an independent record store owner or want to participate in the festivities with your favorite record store visit Recordstoreday.com for more information – HERE.
